Wet N’ Wild Nerd Alert: Screech and Finger Paints Circus Peanuts

As promised, the underwear coats from my Jindie Nails post on Wednesday!

I used Wet N’ Wild’s Nerd Alert: Screech under Frankenstein Spit, and Finger Paint’s Circus Peanuts over Bite Me.

First up is Nerd Alert: Screech!

This color is part of Wet N’ Wild’s Limited Edition Saved by the Bell set, which is all neon colors named after the 6 main characters.  It was fairly hard to find- I NEVER found the set in any of my local CVS stores, a friend came to my rescue and got them all for me.

However, the only real draw of this one is the novelty of having a Saved by the Bell name (which I’ll admit- was pretty big for me).  If you like the color, there’s 2 other polishes you can get that are exact dupes!  Spoiled’s I’m So Jaded and Wet N’ Wild’s Fergie color Glowstick are both completely identical- because they’re all made by Wet N’ Wild.  The only difference is price!

This is 2 coats of Screech with no cleanup needed, and no topcoat.  It’s a gorgeous lime green neon color with a golden shimmer- and doesn’t dry matte like most neons!

Next up I have Finger Paint’s Circus Peanuts that I featured underneath Bite Me.

Circus Peanuts is from Finger Paints Gumdrops and Lollipops collection that came out this past spring.  So sadly, it’s not one you can easily grab at the store- but I got my bottle in a swap, so it can still be found online and from other people.

This is 2 coats of Circus Peanuts with no topcoat!

Not exactly the same color as circus peanuts (see below), but it reminds me a bit of them all the same!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  I’ll be announcing the giveaway winners tomorrow- if you haven’t entered yet, be sure to go enter here!

Jindie Nails: Part 2

And here’s the second part of my Jindie Nails review!  Sorry it’s coming a bit late tonight-  lots of stuff going on, and as you guys know if you were reading last week- the World of Warcraft expansion pack just came out, which I do play 🙂  I tried to have all week’s posts written in advance… which didn’t happen!

So anywho, the rest of my gorgeous Jindie Nails photos!  Today I have Halloween colors to show off- Bite Me, Frankenstein Spit, and Tainted Love.

Tainted Love isn’t REALLY a Halloween polish, but I think it looks like it could be!  I was lucky enough to win a full size bottle of this pretty polish, because I picked the winning name!  How fun is that?

Onto the polish!

First up is Bite Me.

Bite Me is a beautiful glitter mix filled with black, purple, and orange glitters in different shapes and sizes.  I used this as a glitter topcoat, but it could easily be layered multiple times for fuller coverage.

For this mani, I used 1 coat of Bite Me over 2 coats of Finger Paint’s Circus Peanuts.

Next up we have the second color in the Halloween collection, Frankenstein Spit!

Frankenstein Spit is a super fun mix of tiny matte glitters in green, purple, and black.  I love tiny matte glitters!

This is only 1 coat of Frankenstein Spit over 2 coats of Wet N Wild’s Nerd Alert: Screech.  You can’t see the green glitter as well with this undie coat, but I thought that it really brought home the ‘Frankenstein’ idea!

This color could easily have full glitter coverage in just 2-3 coats!

And last but (definitely) not least, we have Tainted Love, my personal favorite!

Tainted Love is a milky white polish filled up with neon yellow, neon pink, and black matte glitters, along with black hearts.

This is 2 coats of Tainted Love on it’s own.  Full coverage with a white in only 2 coats AND still be sheer enough to see glitter in it?  Awesome!

I had to fish a tiny bit for the hearts, but they weren’t overly difficult to get out.   And the tiny glitters are always a bit stubborn- seems I missed a few on cleanup 😉

Right now, Tainted Love is out of stock- but it will be making a return in the future!

You can find Jindie Nails on FacebookInstagram, and on Etsy!   Full size bottles cost $7.75, and they’ve now introduced mini sizes in the most popular colors.

If you’d like to see Part 1 of my review on Jindie Nail polishes, check it out here!

On Friday I’ll be showing off a few shots of the underwear polishes all on their own 🙂

*These polishes were provided to me for review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own*

Spoiled Are Mermaids Real? and Sinful Colors Sweet Dreams

Today I’ll be showing off the underwear coats I used yesterday for my Jindie Nails review post.  I don’t think the non-indie colors have been getting enough love lately, so I’m going to try to start working more back into my routine!

For you budget-minded ladies out there, you’ll really love these!

First up, I have Spoiled’s Are Mermaids Real?  I used this yesterday underneath Jindie Nail’s Neonderthal.

I have always loved this polish, but when you have as many polishes as I do- most never get a lot of attention.  One downside to being a polish hoarder 😉  Are Mermaids Real? is a gorgeous purple polish filled to the bring with a heavy golden glass fleck look.  Though not a dupe, it’s very similar to Zoya’s Daul (but a brighter purple than Daul).

This is 2 coats of Are Mermaids Real? with no cleanup.  Application was great, went on smoothly and covered well with 2 coats.

Finally, we have Sinful Color’s Sweet Dreams.

I love this color so much!  It was part of Sinful Color’s Sheer Shimmers line this spring, so sadly it’s not the easiest to find.  However, you can still get lucky sometimes at Walgreens in the big bins of Sinfuls!  I found a second of this color months after the collection was gone from shelves.

Sweet Dreams is a beautiful turquoise blue filled with sparkly glass fleck shimmer.  It is anything but sheer- it was opaque in 2 coats and was almost a 1-coat polish.  Oh, if only it’s cousin Cinderella was so opaque!

Spoiled polishes are created by Wet N’ Wild, and can be found exclusively at CVS stores, and retail for $1.99.  Sinful Colors can primarily be found at Walgreens, though you can find them at Target and now some Walmarts as well- also for $1.99.

Both can be found on CVS and Walgreen’s websites if you don’t have a store near you!

Jindie Nails: Part 1!

As promised on Saturday, I have a lot of  colors from Jindie Nails to show you all!  Rather than spam you with a ton of colors, I’m dividing this up into 2 posts- I’ll be posting the second on Wednesday.  On Tuesday and Thursday, I’ll be showing off a few photos of the ‘underwear’ colors I wore with all of these- lots of drugstore polish love!

Today, I’ll be showing off Water 4 Elephants, Neonderthal, and Strung Out on Compliments.

First up, we have Neonderthal!

Neonderthal is a pretty glitter topcoat full of white, blue, green, and purple matte glitter and just the hint of sparkle here and there.  The photos are shown with 1 coat over Spoiled’s Are Mermaids Real?.

The application on this was fine- no painting issues and the glitter was fairly evenly distrubuted in just 1 coat.  You could get much heavier coverage with 1-2 more coats, but I think this is a ton of fun just with 1 coat!

Next we have Strung Out On Compliments!

Strung Out on Compliments is a mix of ultrafine black, green and blue matte glitter.  I LOVE matte glitter polishes!

This one is denser than Neonderthal, so it could easily be worn on it’s own in a few coats.  My index finger (top of the photo) shows 2 quick coats, while the rest of the nails are sporting 1 thin (believe it or not) coat over Sinful Color’s Sweet Dreams.

And finally, we have my very favorite:  Water 4 Elephants!

This color is a beautiful brownish grey filled with various sizes of blue, green, and color shifting glitter!

This polish was incredibly easy to apply- though not perfect, I didn’t have to do any cleanup for these photos.  The photos show 2 coats of Water 4 Elephants on it’s own- no undercoat.  The first coat was a little thin, but the second coat filled it out beautifully!

You can find Jindie Nails on Facebook, Instagram, and on Etsy!   Full size bottles cost $7.75.  Be sure to check them out!  Jennifer (the awesome lady behind Jindie Nails) offers a TON of polishes, and if you like matte glitter or neon you’ll fall in love with her creations!  (Though if you don’t like either of those, she has goodies for you as well!)

Be sure to check back on Wednesday for the second half of this review!

*These polishes were provided to me for review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own*

My September Giveaway!

As promised, it’s time for a giveaway!  I enjoy giving out things to you awesome people!

For September, I decided that my theme should be Breast Cancer Awareness.

Now, I know that Breast Cancer Awareness month is actually October.  However, Halloween is also in October- so I pushed this one up a week so that September could have some love too!  And this way, the winners will receive their prizes right in time for the beginning of October.

On to this month’s prizes!

The first winner will receive the 2012 OPI Pink of Hearts set, which contains ‘You Glitter Be Good To Me’ and ‘I Think in Pink’.

The second winner will receive Orly’s ‘You Are Not Alone’ and ‘Artificial Sweetener’.

The third winner will receive Essie’s ‘Raise Awareness’, as well as a nail polish ring in pink with breast cancer awareness ribbons.  This ring was made by a fellow polish lover many of us know, who’s sister-in-law is currently fighting breast cancer.  All proceeds from these ring sales goes directly to her.

*This giveaway will run from 11:30pm 9/23/12 to 11:59pm 9/29/12.  Winners will have until 11:59pm 10/1/12 to respond to the notification email, at which time a replacement winner will be drawn for that prize*

So now on to the rules- PLEASE READ THEM:

Like any giveaway hosted/paid for by myself, this is open internationally.  You must be 18+ to enter, but if you’re younger you can with parental permission.

Keeping it simple again:  It’s mandatory to like my Facebook page in order to enter.   If you’d like to follow me via any other means that’s great, but Facebook is my primary means of interaction and my best way to gauge followers (since I lack GFC, and not going to force you all to follow me via email).
*If you do not have a facebook account, please message me.  My contact information is at the top of the page.*

By simply liking my page, you’re guaranteed 3 entries.  That’s it, you don’t have to do anything else other than fill out the questions on the form (contact info).   For an optional 4th entry, you can share the giveaway.  I don’t care HOW you share it- it can be via Twitter, Facebook, a blog post- just shared in some form of social media. The only requirement here is that you give me a link to the *specific place* it was shared.

For Facebook, it MUST BE a public post.  I can not see it if it’s not public, and I will throw the entry out.  Please click the timestamp under your name on that post to give a specific link to the post- I will not go on a random goose hunt all over your page to find the entry.  I was very lenient with this last time even though I specifically asked for it- I don’t have the time to be that lenient again.

As always, I’m usually around- if you have a question, please just ask!   You can ask here in the comments, or message me via email or on Facebook.

And finally- I do confirm each and every winner actually followed the rules, INCLUDING entering more than once.  I’ve thrown out multiple winners in each giveaway for not following the rules- and I hate having to do that.  Please don’t make me throw out your entry!

I didn’t think this needed to be said, but  last time someone entered many, many times- so apparently it does.  ONE FORM ENTRY PER PERSON.

Giveaway is CLOSED.  Thanks to all that entered!!

Roll Tide: Crimson Pride by Jindie Nails and Stamping

Happy Game Day!  If you didn’t already know, I live in the overly-hot state of Alabama.  Down here, people live and breathe college football- most of the SEC states do.  And in Alabama, you choose between Alabama and Auburn (though there’s always the random few that will cheer for a neighboring SEC team).  A good chunk of the country hates us- our state boasts the last 3 consecutive National Champions (Alabama, Auburn, Alabama) and the SEC overall has held the title for 6 years.

I’m not originally from Alabama- I moved here just in time for college.  So my pro-football loyalties lie with the Steelers, since I was born and raised in Pittsburgh.  You may see a post for them at some point in the future.  Never fear though, this isn’t a regular thing- it’ll just be one each during the regular season.

Anywho, on to nails!

If you’re interested in WHY I chose the specific colors and prints (I’ve had people from outside of the SEC/Alabama are inquire about houndstooth), just keep reading after the nail photos.  If you don’t care, then you can stop after the nails!

For this look, I opted to do my first ever accent nail!  I’m not really a huge fan of accent nails, but I think it worked this time.

I started off with a coat of Sinful Colors Slate on all but my index finger, and painted my index finger with Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

Then, I topped off each grey finger with 2 coats of Jindie Nails Crimson Pride– a glitter topcoat inspired by Alabama Football, filled with various shapes and sizes of red and white glitter as well as silver shimmer.

Finally, I pulled out my stamping plates, and used the houndstooth print on Cheeky’s CH8 from their spring collection on my index finger.

Now, for the ‘why’ of all the colors.

For the grey- you may have noticed the first photo in this post, our mascot the elephant posing the the big red A.  Our mascot is Big Al, an elephant- so grey is for him!  Don’t ask me why an elephant, I’m not even sure Alabama itself knows the REAL reason.  There’s a few rumors- one involves the team running out and sounding like a herd of elephants.

Our colors are crimson red and white.  However, you’ll almost always see Alabama fans sporting some sort of houndstooth- and this is why:

Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant is the legendary and well loved coach of Alabama football from 1958-1982.   He was known for wearing a houndstooth hat, and so we wear houndstooth 🙂

You can find Jindie Nails here– she offers other football colors if you aren’t cool enough to cheer for Alabama (I kid! I kid! <3), among a lot of other awesome colors.  Be sure to check back early next week- I have a big review coming on Jindie Nails!

Cheeky stamping plates can be found on Amazon here– they’re very affordable and there’s a ton of great designs!  You can see my other stamping post using a Cheeky plate here.

Nail of the Day: Deborah Lippmann Forsaken Sookie Sookie Duo

Happy Friday, everyone!  As I’m sure a lot of you saw, last night was an eventful evening in the ER with my youngest (he’s fine, just some breathing issues from his virus he’s been fighting), so today’s post will be simple but pretty. 🙂

A few months ago, HSN started advertising their upcoming Forsaken collection- a beauty collection inspired by HBO’s True Blood series (yes, I know the show is based on a book series- I’m a huge huge fan of the books- if you like the show I highly recommend giving them a shot).   When I heard that Deborah Lippmann would be contributing to the collection, of course I couldn’t wait to see!  I ordered this polish duo on the first day of the collection’s release.

There’s a few different polishes available, but being a magpie (ie, I love anything that sparkles), I was immediately drawn to the Sookie Sookie duo.

This combo is made up of Human Nature, a ‘mortal putty taupe’, and Fairydust, an ‘ethereal shimmer’.  Both bottles contain the ‘True Blood’ label on one side, the standard black Deborah Lippmann on the other.

Now, I only own like 3 Lippmann polishes… mostly because I can’t often justify the price in my head.  However- this is one of the most amazing polishes.  It’s self leveling, glossy, applies like a dream- just wonderful.  These photos were taken at 2 coats, with no topcoat.  They also dried very fast (with no topcoat), and didn’t require anything in the way of cleanup.

Next up is Fairydust!

I’ve heard of people using Fairydust on it’s own as a polish, but I feel it’s better used as a topcoat on an existing color- in this case, Human Nature.

This is 1 coat of Fairydust over 2 coats of Human Nature, no topcoat, no cleanup.

Look at that gorgeous red gold shimmer!  This is not an in-your-face bling, but very subtle and gorgeous.

This combo could be a perfect work-friendly mani for ladies who aren’t allowed to show off crazy colors in a work environment. It’s neutral, but just enough shimmer and sparkle to be fun without going overboard (like I usually do with my polish!).

This combo (they’re only sold together- sorry guys!) can be found on HSN.com for $25.  There’s also other Forsaken inspired items to check out!

LynBDesigns: Jarvis and Five Orange Pips

I have 2 beautiful colors from LynBDesigns to show off today- Jarvis and Five Orange Pips!

Pretty neat bottles, right?

LynBDesigns has a TON of colors to choose from on her etsy site– there’s 95 polish listings!  She also has a lot of other fun things to check out.

So first up: Jarvis!

Jarvis is part of LynBDesigns’ Gender-Benders collection- 14 colors that all share men’s names.  From etsy:  ‘It’s hot pink, it’s color shifting; what’s not to love? Jarvis has a sheer hot pink base and is loaded with color shifting awesomeness. It changes from pink to blue to purple, and on occasion even a little orange.’

You all know I love pink, especially the bright variety- so I was sold!

This is 4 coats of Jarvis alone.  3 would have been sufficient, but without a base coat I had a tiny bit of VNL.

This color is SO gorgeous!  There’s a beautiful light color shift and the application is great.  Even with 4 coats, the polish wasn’t too thick and was very wearable.

This is 2 coats of Jarvis over Cult Nails Nevermore (my go-to black).  WOW!  Look at how pretty!  I love a color-shifting topcoat that can be worn on its own- it makes it very versatile!

The second polish I have to show off from LynBDesigns is Five Orange Pips!

Five Orange Pips is from the Baker Street Collection, which is inspired by Sherlock Holmes.  The description from the store sums up this color perfectly: ‘It’s a collection of orange glitters in a sheer orange base. It has orange holographic glitter, orange hearts, fine orange matte, and glitter that look black in some light, orange in others.’

Even though it’s not part of LynBDesigns’ Halloween collection, this color is absolutely perfect for a holiday look.

This is 2 coats of Five Orange Pips over Sally Hansen’s Ivory Skull (one of the new Fall Complete Manicure colors; a plain white).

This was an easy color to work with- the only hard part was (as expected) the cute orange hearts- but they didn’t require too much effort to get them to come out and play!  The white in these photos really shows off the orange jelly of Five Orange Pips.

This is my favorite combo- 2 coats of Five Orange Pips over Cult Nails Nevermore.  Does this scream Halloween or what?!

I really, really loved these 2 polishes.  Both were super easy to work with and covered nicely- and most importantly, they both looked so very beautiful!  I play on getting a lot of use out of Five Orange Pips this fall!

LynBDesigns is currently offering a Buy Two, Get One Free sale (as of 9/19)!  Just write a note requesting which color you would like as your free choice.

These polishes and more can be found on LynBDesign’s Etsy store for $8.50 each and unless my eyes deceive me- shipping is free!  Which makes these a great deal for some beautiful indie polishes 🙂

Be sure to check out LynBDesign’s Facebook page for new colors and updates.  She has a pretty Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired Halloween collection just released!

*The polishes featured in this post were sent to me for review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

365 Days of Color Hocus Pocus Collection: Black Flame Candle and I Smell… Children!

Hi all!  I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Today I have some gorgeousssss Halloween colors to show you- 365 Days of Color’s Black Flame Candle and I Smell… Children! from the Hocus Pocus Collection!

Hocus Pocus is my very favorite Halloween movie, so when Sunny said she was going to be creating her Halloween shades based on themes from the movie, I couldn’t wait to see what she came up with!  The collection consists of 5 colors:  I Smell… Children!, Black Flame Candle, Come Little Children, Boouk!, and I Put A Spell On You.

First up, we have Black Flame Candle!

In the movie, the Sanderson sisters (seen above) are hanged in Salem during the late 1600s.  Before their death, Winnie (Bette Midler) casts a spell allowing them to come back to life if a virgin lights the black flame candle on Halloween.   Fast forward 300 years… and Max, who recently moved to Salem, lights the candle to impress a girl.  ‘Come on, it’s just a bunch of hocus pocus!’

Like it’s namesake, Black Flame Candle is well… black!  This is a gorgeous black polish with silver shimmer throughout.

The consistency is on the thinner and more jelly-like side, and it builds beautifully.  These photos are 3 coats on their own, with Poshe topcoat.

While writing out this post, I thought that Black Flame Candle may work well for a jelly sandwich, so I quickly tried one out.  It works great!

This is 3 coats of Black Flame Candle and 2 coats of a franken of mine (it’s a white glitter mix), alternated.  Very pretty!

Next, I have I Smell… Children!

This color is inspired by Mary (played by Kathy Najimy), who can ‘smell’ children- this helps her sister Sarah lure them in with her hypnotic singing, in order to steal their life essence to keep them young.

I Smell… Children!  is a beautiful black base filled with purple glitter and shimmer.

This is 3 coats of I Smell… Children! on it’s own, with Poshe topcoat.  While this is gorgeous indoors- outside in the sun, it’s even prettier!

Application on both was wonderful.  These polishes are on this thinner side, but that was a very good thing- it allowed me to build them up to full opacity without having a giant polish bubble on my nail!  Even my jelly sandwich with 6 coats wasn’t too thick, which I loved!

I’d also like to take just a second to RAVE about 365 Days of Color’s Miracle Balms and Cuticle Oils.

I’ve purchased 7 Miracle Balms, and 3 Cuticle Oils (not all at once, but over the past few months).  These are all amazing!  If you stop into the store to buy anything, be SURE to check these out!  Sunny has 5 million scents (ok, not really, but I would bet she has around 100), and they are wonderful!  The balm goes on nicely and absorbs quickly, and the new oils are really awesome- I love being able to roll the oil right over my fingers!  Every scent I own is amazing- my very favorites so far are Lilac & Lilies, Candy Corn, and Orange Sorbet!

The photos are all *sample sizes*, if you can believe that!  You can get a full size of a single scent- $4 for a 10mL oil, or $3 for a .5 oz balm; or you can get sampler trios (pick 3 scents)- Oils are in 5mL containers for $6, and the balms are in .25 oz containers for $5.

The Hocus Pocus collection is going to be released on September 21, at 365 Days of Color’s Big Cartel store.  You can follow 365 Days of Color on Facebook, as well as Sunny’s blog!  Right now the store is in maintenance mode, but it will open on the 21st when this collection is available!

*The polishes in this post were sent to me for review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own*

Different Dimension: The Expansion Set

I’ll warn you- this is a VERY picture heavy post!

Some of you already know, but I play World of Warcraft.  I have since shortly after it was released-  just over 7 years.  So when Missi of Different Dimension put out a call for bloggers that also play WoW to show off her new collection- I jumped at the chance!

World of Warcraft has it’s 4th expansion pack, Mists of Pandaria, coming out in just over a week.  The theme of this expansion is Pandaria- ie, panda people (for those who aren’t familiar with the game).  Much of the backbone of WoW centers around conflict between two warring factions- The Alliance and The Horde (which when playing, you play for the faction of your choice).

Of course, you certainly don’t have to play- or even like- World of Warcraft to love these polishes!

Be sure to grab any you want NOW- Once the Expansion is released on September 25, these will be gone for good!

I’m going to start off tonight with Murloc!

So that green guy is a murloc!  Murlocs are (usually) hostile creatures found… well… all OVER the place in WoW.  They’re sort of like fish people.  There’s a lot of color variations with them, but this particular one shows off the polish colors the best!

Murloc is a pretty glitter polish filled with green, blue and red sparkling hexes.  This could be opaque in multiple coats, but I chose to use it as a layering polish.

This is 2 coats of Murloc over Spoiled’s I’m So Jaded.   The glitters were so beautiful and sparkly- there is a bit of a holo shine to the them, especially the blue and green!

Next, we have Spectral Tiger!

The Spectral Tiger is a very rare, very coveted mount in the game.  It’s only available via the WoW Trading Card Game, so it costs a lot of real-life money to acquire (think many hundreds of dollars).  It’s a ghostly, slightly transparent tiger.   I do not have this mount 😦

But I DO have this beautiful polish of the same name! (yeah, cheesy, I know)

Spectral Tiger is GORGEOUS.  Just absolutely gorgeous.  It’s a very subtle polish; a light baby blue shade filled with baby blue, white, and holographic glitters.  I chose to layer 2 coats over Sinful Color’s Snow Me White.

But the BEST part about Spectral Tiger?  It GLOWS!  I took this picture in my hall bathroom with the door shut.

Next up, we have Bad Ass Panda!

Bad Ass Panda is a pretty black and white topcoat.  It’s filled with black and white hexes of various sizes, black diamonds, and holographic glitter- so there’s a lot of sparkle!

As a reference- here is a Pandaren, the new race that’s being introduced in Mists.  To be specific- this is MY Pandaren.  This is my main character (Sunni) as she looks on the beta servers- since you can change your character’s race over there.  I plan on doing this the day the expansion comes out, so this is exactly how she’ll look again in a few weeks 🙂  She’s also hanging out with my very favorite companion pet, Bananas- he was a birthday present from my husband about 4 years ago.

For those interested- I’m an enhancement shaman, and I play Horde side!

Now you’ll understand why I chose this undercoat for Bad Ass Panda…

This is 2 coats of Bad Ass Panda over 2 coats of Zoya Lola.  I did do a tiny bit of glitter placing for these photos, just to ensure that every nail had a diamond, but it’s not necessary for normal wear!

And now, we just have the last 2 polishes- Alliance and Horde.  I happen to have faction-specific stuffed animals (yes, I do, and I won’t allow my kids to play with them), and they’ll be making appearances alongside their faction’s colors!  You already know I play Horde side, so I’m leaving the best for last.

(One of the Alliance’s war cries is ‘For The Alliance’, and their main aerial mount is a gryphon- this is a stuffed baby gryphon)

Alliance is filled with blue, lilac, and holographic gold glitter.  Like the ones before it, this is best used over another polish!

I chose to layer 2 coats of Alliance over Love My Nails Electric Blue.   It’s not quite the right shade of blue, but that’s ok.

Here’s my nails posing with the Alliance crest, which is the inspiration for the polish!

And last (but certainly not least), we have Horde!

(One of the Horde’s war cries is ‘Lok’tar Ogar’, which means Victory or Death in orcish.  Their main mode of aerial transportation is a wryvern- and the stuffed animal is a baby wryvern).

This polish is the best in the collection for using with no polish underneath.  It’s a jelly finish, but it’s almost opaque in 2 coats and completely covers in 3.  Horde is filled with silver and red hex glitter and fine silver holographic glitter in a black jelly base.

This is 3 coats of Horde with no basecoat.  If the second coat was thick, a 3rd coat wouldn’t be needed!  These photos truly don’t show off the holo sparkle of this polish well- it REALLY shines!

Posing with the Horde crest- like with Alliance, this is the inspiration for this polish!

Overall, I was blown away by this entire collection.  I thought they looked pretty and awesome before I recieved them, but once I put them on, they were all just so very gorgeous.  I’m partial to them all of course, but if you have to be good and just grab 1 or 2- I’d say Spectral Tiger is a must-have, and if you lack a nice black and white topcoat Bad Ass Panda is as well.

You can follow Different Dimension on Facebook, and be sure to check out her Etsy Store!  In addition to the new WoW collection, there are a TON of gorgeous polishes.   Each color in this collection sells for $10 and Spectral Tiger sells for $12.50, or you can get the whole set of 5 for $45 (a discount of $7.50!).   Other polishes are $8.50, and Glow in the Darks are $10.  She also now offers mini sets!

*These polishes were sent to me for review.  All opinions are my own.*

(Just Another) Mani Monday: Dotting fun with Orly Miss Conduct

Hello all!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We were super busy around here- still getting into the swing of things with school back in session, combined with each kiddo getting sick at separate times.  So I’m sorry for the sporadic posting, I just didn’t get much of a chance to sit down and take some ‘me’ time!

For today, I just have a pretty but simple look.  All you’ll need is some polishes, and some dotting tools!  Dotting tools can be found at tons of different places- the set I use is almost identical to this set  found at Born Pretty.  You can also find them on Ebay, and on Dollish Polish’s site.

First I painted my nails with the absolutely gorgeous Miss Conduct by Orly.  This shade is part of the Naughty or Nice 2012 Holiday Collection, which I bought from Transdesign.

Miss Conduct is a stunning magenta pink color, filled to the brim with holographic particles.  It was a fairly thin polish, but it applied well and was almost opaque at 1 coat and completely opaque at 2.  The polish remained smooth, sparkly and shiny when dry, so I didn’t use a topcoat.

Then I just used black and white polish, just barely dipped the dotting tools into them, and dotted away.  I didn’t really use a set pattern or ‘look’, just sort of filled it in on the sides.

Dots are a great way to liven up any single color mani!

Be sure to be on the lookout for this Orly color- in my opinion it’s a must-have if you love pink or bling! 🙂

August Favorites!

I may not do this every month, but I had enough new ‘favorite’ things in August to justify a post about it.  So here it goes!

So anyone that’s been following my blog for the past few weeks know my birthday was in August (the 25th!).  Not that being a mom takes away some of the celebration- but it’s easy to forget about stuff like that and let yourself get overshadowed by the kiddos.  Celebrating with you all, and with my husband and family, was lots of fun 🙂  So that leads me to one of my first favorites: my new cellphone cover!

Technically I got this in September- but it was a birthday present from my in-laws, we were just unable to celebrate on my birthday weekend due to my kids being sick.  So I’m still counting it!

This particular one came from Insomniac Arts, and can be found here.

If you didn’t know before, now you do- I’m a HUGE Harry Potter nut.  My husband got me a working wand and the Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook for Christmas last year 😉

Moving on to more beauty related items, my new favorite thing ever is Duri Rejuvacoat!

Really, I feel like this little bottle is a miracle worker.  I’m using a stock photo, because my bottle is 1/2 empty now.

I’ve talked at length in the past about how my nails have never been able to grow- they’ve always been thin, they break easily, and grow slowly.  I was also recovering from a nasty set of acrylics I got back in April- it took until this month to slowly grow out all the damage, and that whole time my nails were paper thin.  Not anymore!

This is a picture I took with my phone tonight.  My nails look better than I have ever seen them.  Now, part of this is because I’m taking better care of them all around- but a lot is because of Rejuvacoat.  This is 2 weeks growth, ya’ll- and I have banged them up and done plenty of things that would have normally broken one, and they’re still doing well!  I did have a small break on my right hand, but it wasn’t bad.  My nails are SO strong compared to just a month ago, it’s unreal.

So if you have issues with your nails, I highly recommend giving this a try!  I bought mine on Amazon, but you can find it on their site, and it’s also sold by Ninja Polish.

This month was when I finally managed to get my hands on some of the new Essence bottles.

I am in love with these new bottles!  The brushes are more similar to OPI’s, which I love- and I also love all the new colors.  The ones I have so far, left to right, are: Gorgeous Bling Bling, Party Princess (yes, it’s another I Lily Love You dupe, but the flakes aren’t as big and almost not noticeable), Oh My Glitter!, Grey-T To Be Here, Date In The Moonlight, and Chic Reloaded.

Moving away from nails for a minute- I also have been in LOVE with my Lilac Lotion from KBShimmer!

I shook the bottle before the photo- the usage is down to the top of the label.  I use the lotion multiple times a day- I adore it.  My very favorite scent is lilac, and it’s been hard sometimes finding lilac scented body products.  This one goes on smoothly, absorbs in quickly, and isn’t greasy.  And is smells awesome!

The next time you grab some of Christy’s awesome polishes, be sure to get some of her other products as well- they’re amazing!  You can get them at her store here.

Next up, is something most people knew about, but I had never heard of- purple shampoo.

While not a natural light blonde (I’m normally dark blonde/light brown), I’ve always dyed my hair lighter.  And it always goes brassy and yellow, every single time (I use a light ash blonde color).  I’m cool toned- brassy just doesn’t look good on me.  Purple shampoo, like Shimmer Lights, removes brasiness and restores brightness to blonde/silver hair.  After using this one time- I could tell a huge difference.  Of course I also experienced the flip side of that- using it too much and almost losing color completely in some areas 😉  But overall, this has been a lifesaver for my hair color.  I bought this one at Sally’s Beauty Supply for just over $8 with my Sally’s card.

And last, but CERTAINLY not least:

August was the month I squashed  3 out of my 4 biggest lemmings!

From Left to Right:  Clarins 230, Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie, and Lynnderella The Glittering Crowd.

These 3 were my ‘major’ lemmings- almost the only ones that I would give up a lot to own (The only one remaining is Cult Nails Unicorn Puke- and since I do have Finger Paints Twisted, it’s not as rabid of a lemming).  All 3 were polishes I absolutely fell in love with early on- Clarins 230 is a bit self explanatory- even though I owned Fantasy Fire, I still wanted the original.  Scrangie I have always adored, and The Glittering Crowd is the specific polish that jump started my polish addiction.  I was able to purchase Clarins 230 for a reasonable price (it was part of my birthday present from my husband this year)- I did a swap to get Scrangie at cost, no crazy markup (THANK YOU AGAIN!), and The Glittering Crowd was a birthday present from a good friend.  These 3 make me happy 🙂

I can’t wait to see what new things I find in September- I’m LOVING the new fall scents and colors coming out!

Monster Mixers and Elixirs Review!

Hello again all!  I hope everyone had a great long weekend (for those in the US).  I had planned to post on Monday, but I realized a little late last night that ‘Sunday’ was actually Monday.  Three day weekends always mess with my head!  So you may see 2 posts before the day is over!

Today I have a review for you all: Monster Mixers and Elixirs!  This is a new franken polish store run by Melissa of Be Someone Cute.  They’re offering quite a few beautiful glitters, which can be purchased on their own, and some beautiful pre-made glitter topcoats.  You can even buy a few mini bottles filled with polish base and sample sizes of glitters to make your own combos!

I have 3 of their glitter topcoats to show off, as well as my own franken using glitter purchased from the store.

I recieved Stratosphere, King’s Cup, and Lunar Lake glitter topcoats.  All 3 are very pretty!

First up, I’ll show off Stratosphere.

Stratosphere is a beautiful holo blue glitter.  I layered this color over 2 coats of Orly Preamp.  This glitter applied wonderfully, though I did have to dab a tiny bit to get it everywhere I wanted.

I have 1 coat of Stratosphere on my pinky and ring fingers, 2 coats on my middle finger, and 3 coats on my index finger.

Next up:  King’s Cup!

King’s Cup is a beautiful, finer grade gold holo glitter topcoat.  I layered this over 2 coats of Maybelline’s Downtown Brown.  Application with this one was wonderful- smooth and pretty full coverage.

Like the first shot, I have 1 coat on my pinky and ring finger, 2 coats on my middle finger, and 3 coats on my index finger.  This is a finer grade glitter than Stratosphere and Lunar Lake, so the coverage is a bit fuller- it’s not as easy to distinguish between the different numbers of coats!

Last but not least, we have Lunar Lake.

Lunar Lake is a beautiful green holo glitter that is actually a bit more teal than my photos are showing.  I layered this one over 2 coats of Wet N’ Wild’s Fergalicious- I love green and pink combos!

Like the other 2 colors, this one is 1 coat on my pinky and ring fingers, 2 coats on the middle finger, and 3 on the index finger.  The glitter went on smoothly and nicely, and built up well.  It was a nice little pop of color contrast!

Now I’ll show off one of my personal frankens I made the other night using glitter from Monster Mixers & Elixirs.  I purchased a few different sample sizes of glitter to play with- for this,  I decided to add the entire sample of Nebula to a bottle of base (I used a full size, which is why the glitter is a little less dense than the above topcoats- the sample sizes are perfect for mini size glitter topcoats on their own).  I also added some of my new black stars and green moons that I recently bought from Glitter Unique.  Named by and created for my friend Jen of Jen’s Nail Files, this one is called Vat of Bats.

Nebula is a beautiful fine holo black glitter!  This was 2 coats of Vat of Bats over 2 coats of Essence Grey-T To Be Here (which Jen actually gave me for my birthday- we like to swap gifts!).  All I did was add the packet of glitter into my base- which I already own, but you can purchase in bottles from Monster Mixers & Elixirs.  A scoop of the moons and stars were the only other things added.

If you’re new to polish making, just want a glitter topcoat, or are an experienced creator looking for a few new glitters, be sure to check out Monster Mixers & Elixirs!  You can also find Melissa at her Facebook page Be Someone Cute!
